stop & rest

stop & rest in the Inventor of Rest’s Presence.

A little while ago, I had a dream about someone I knew who was in great distress, anxiety, confusion, & didn’t know what to do next in their lives. I woke up and felt compelled to write something down on paper - just anything - and thought maybe this could be something I’d give to them to help encourage them in their life at that point. So I just started writing. I didn’t know what I was going to write or what exactly it was going to say, but I just knew I had to begin writing anything on paper right then.

After I was finished writing, I felt like God was telling me not to give what I wrote to that person at that time & just to wait. I started praying etc., and would glance over every now & then to the paper with what was written. I began to do more than glance, and I found myself staring in awe while reading every word. I realized in that moment that what was written down on paper that morning, every single word, was for me in that moment of my life. It’s as if God knew what I needed to hear and wrote it down through me so that I could understand exactly what He wanted for me in my life right then. I soon realized that it was not only for me, but it was just as much for me as it was & is for every person in this world.

What was written emphasized the power of resting. Simply resting in God Almighty & letting everything else go, straight into His capable hands. It shed light on the fact that God is God, and there is no other - and He has every detail, down to the last crumb we eat today, under control. There was freedom & power when I realized that God doesn’t expect or want me to run myself into the ground ever. What He does want is for me to simply trust Him to come through for me every time in life.

Here is what was written that day, along with side thoughts from me & some verses that pertain to the writing/thoughts:

A Word from God Almighty: Stop & Rest

Stop trying to figure it all out.

Your God is on His Throne.

There is nothing you can do apart from Him.

Wait and see what I do.

I will turn chairs over

and make them tables.

I will wash and mark walls

then knock them all down.

You are Mine

and I am yours.

Don’t turn away when it gets hard and there doesn’t seem to be a solution.

Instead,

turn to Me,

and I will solve any problem you may have.

Let My Awe-Inspiring Glory fall on you and be your guide

instead of your feelings or intuitions.

I have given you a task,

but it is My task to uphold and complete.

Simply allow Me to do it through you,

and don’t second guess or add more to it than there is.

Rest in Me

and I will accomplish more through your rest

than in your busyness.

Let Me work,

and you will see everything come to fruition in its time.

I am God,

and there is no other apart from Me.

Don’t try to be Me — Let Me be Me.

My blessing is on your household,

and you will see amazing things come to pass

as you lean on Me.

Side Thoughts

We try to always be doing something

and feel that if we are not exerting ourselves in some way

that good things won’t happen;

but good things never come from our own strength,

so why are we trying to do everything ourselves?

What God wants is for us all to just lean back on Him and His power

and rest.

Then, and only then,

will we be able to sense His Presence fully and hear His Voice evidently.

What we hear from His Still, Small Voice is what we should follow,

and what we follow will always be in the pathway of peace and abundant life.

“Come to Me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Place My yoke  over your shoulders, and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves because My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

—Matthew 11:28-30 (GW)

The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me],
I shall not want.
He lets me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still and quiet waters.
He refreshes and restores my soul (life);
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You have anointed and refreshed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord.

—Pslam 23 (AMP)

a moment in time

just come as you are.

There is a moment

when everything falls away

All you did in the past

All you’re doing today

Then out of nowhere

a voice comes blowing by

saying, “Child, where have you been?

When you said you trust Me, did you lie?

You’ve been running in circles,

and your life’s almost halfway done

Come back to Me for some rest

Come back, My child, come

My Spirit lives within you

So why would you fear anything

I’ve already dealt with the darkness

all that’s left to do is just be

Live like there’s no tomorrow

and never dread the night

There’s more to life than just sorrow

There’s freedom when you don’t fight the light

Come to Me for peace

Come to Me for fun

Come to Me when you’re lonely

Come, child, just come.”
